Entitled Multilingual Communication Management in Political Institutions: the contribution of translation as a public policy, my dissertation attempts to disclose the institutional dimensions of official language and translation policies from an economic perspective.
Through an interdisciplinary approach including concepts and methods found in institutional economics, political theory, and descriptive translation studies, it defines the role of language and translation at different institutional levels. The application of this theoretical framework to assess the political systems of Canada and Switzerland leads to the conclusion that translation can be considered as a core institutions of multilingual federations.
